Since moving to the US in 2000, Slavco has often used his family's old clothes, cloth found in thrift shops, and occasionally cloth he has purchased from fabric stores to construct flag-like works, which may be torn or otherwise stressed through stretching, burning, or treated with color.

In 2015, the National Gallery of Macedonia at Mala Stanica mounted a major solo show of his work, including two large installations of multiple smaller flag pieces.
