The sofra, a traditional Turkish, low, round wooden table used for dining, and found throughout Macedonia in old homes, has been an inspiration to Slavčo for decades.

For his early sofras, he reworked the surfaces of the old tables he collected, enhancing the grain, adding metals and pigments to the surface. 

​

With few sofras to be had in the US, Slavčo began working on other round surfaces he found and made, using wooden boards and sometimes round stretched canvases.
